It was an epic Cyber Monday deal that disintegrated into an epic fail. But now Motorola is ready to make amends and offer up twice as many off-contract Moto X units for as little as $ 349, starting Wednesday at 9 a.m. Pacific time.
In case you weren’t one of the multitudes constantly reloading the Moto Maker site and waiting for word to be passed down via Twitter that the deal was on, here’s the quick chronology of what happened to make one of the most anticipated Cyber Monday deals into the only “whoopsie! Wednesday” and “makeup Monday” deals I know of:
- Last week, Motorola announced it would reduce the price of all its off-contract Moto X models by $ 150 for a short period starting at 6 a.m. on Monday.
- Come Monday morning, Motorola’s site was largely inaccessible and the company gave word to hold tight on the bargain snatching until all systems were go.
- Within a few hours, Motorola was able to initiate the deal on non-customizable developer editions, which went for $ 399 each and sold out by mid-afternoon.
